Before The Curtain Goes Up
A study of the life of Jesus before his public ministry.

with Dr. Doug Bookman

bookman

The record of Jesus’ life in the four Gospels of the New Testament jumps from the nativity narratives to His adult ministry, with one exception – the brief and tantalizing glimpse into those growing years offered us in Luke’s account of Jesus’ visit to Jerusalem for Passover at the age of  twelve. But is there more that we can know about those formative years? And should we believe the fables of a “super-boy” amazing friends and alarming townspeople with silly magical feats and insights?

No, don’t believe the fables and legends. But yes, there is much to learn about the life of our Savior before He went to be baptized by John and commence His public ministry. The narratives which we do have in Scripture are more instructive than often appreciated, and the teaching of the entire Bible regarding the Person of the God-man, Jesus, guides us to an accurate and delightful perspective on those seasons of His life.

“Before The Curtain Goes Up” is a deliberate, detailed and devotional study of the years of Jesus’ life before He went to be baptized by John. Study notes will be provided, and the events in the Gospel record will be carefully traced.  Theological considerations central to the narrative will be discussed, with special attention to what the Scriptures have to say concerning the Person of Jesus Christ. Time will be made available to answer questions and practical application will be made. Join us for this very important study.
